Flexo printing machineuses a printing technique called direct printing. It consist today of an ink pump pumping ink (UV, solvent or water based) to a so called "chambered doctor blade" which is pressed on an celled anilox roll which transfers the ink in its cells to a CTP and conventionaly processed or directly laser engraved (DLE) photopolymer plate which transfers the ink directly to the substrate (paper, cardboard, corrugated, film, label material etc.). 

The flexo machines can be reel to reel or sheet to sheet. Reel to reel machines can be stack type or with a central impression drum. Flexo printing is at its peak right now taking most of the printing market share.
